The Community Engineering Corps (CECorps) is a domestic program formed through an alliance between the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Water Works Association, and Engineers Without Borders USA. CECorps brings underserved communities and volunteer engineer leaders together to advance local infrastructure solutions in the United States.

All new CECorps projects originate from a request from a community for partnership. The Domestic Application Review Committee (DARC) members play a crucial role in reviewing every 541 Community Application to ensure its compatibility with the CECorps community-driven development model as well as the mission and vision of the organization. The committee reviews applications submitted by communities and ensure there is both need for the project and a lack of accessible engineering services. All DARC committees are comprised of two members along with a CECorps staff reviewer.

- possess at least two years’ experience in a field of engineering or other discipline relevant to a project (e.g. water treatment operations)
- be a current ASCE, AWWA, or EWB-USA member

- be committed to the mission of CECorps
- be accountable to fellow DARC members in ensuring timely reviews in accordance with established review criteria

This varies greatly by project and month. Some months may require no work while others require multiple 541 Community Application reviews. This can range from 0-6 hours per month. We are happy to work with individuals to accommodate their availability.

Other than the financial commitment required to be a member of one of the three alliance organizations, no financial commitment is required.
