Education is integrated into everything we do.
Since 2002, Engineers Without Borders USA (EWB-USA) has been committed to transforming the lives of our volunteers by equipping them to become leaders, capable of addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. The engineering community has a critical role to play in solving global challenges, and a responsibility to serve people and the planet.
EWB-USA is proud to provide the foundation for thousands of globally responsible engineers, ensuring that they have the skills to work successfully in communities and provide critical infrastructure improving the lives of the world’s most vulnerable people.
With unique programming bridging engineering education gaps and strengthening workforce pipelines, EWB-USA is transforming the landscape of education and the larger engineering industry.
Our volunteers stand out from the crowd in the classroom and in the workplace.
EWB-USA chapters are working on close to 200 university campuses across the country, offering students transformational learning opportunities complementing traditional engineering education. Our professional volunteers are exposed to meaningful professional and leadership skills development. And, our experienced volunteers contribute expertise essential to mentoring, preparing, and sharing knowledge with a new generation of students and professionals.
Through participation in projects, online courses, and conferences, EWB-USA has provided approximately 70,000 learning opportunities since 2015 for our student and professional volunteers.
Our programming focuses on enhancing:
- Professional and technical skills development
- Leadership opportunities
- Multidisciplinary knowledge sharing and mentorship
- Project management skills
- Cross-cultural communication capabilities
- Systems thinking through the lens of humanitarian engineering
We understand the power of education in preparing leaders to solve global challenges, and are always expanding and improving our educational opportunities. Specific opportunities include:
E-Learning Courses for Volunteers
