 TAC INFORMATION

If you've been looking for a way to fit into EWB-USA, but do not want to travel, either being a TAC member or a Liaison might be a good way to participate. Ideal TAC members & Liaisons should have overseas experience or cultural experience. TAC members should also have a strong background in health, education, or engineering.

1) TAC Members:
TAC stands for the Technical Advisory Committee, and their role is to review EWB-USA projects prior to implementation of a chapter's design in a community.    They are usually composed of 15-20 professionals, including engineers of all backgrounds, health professionals and other professionals with cultural knowledge to contribute.  Currently there are four TAC's throughout the country.  The first was the Mountain Region TAC, followed by the West Coast TAC and now the East Coast and Great Lakes/South Central TACs are rolling.   To help people understand the TAC process, we will be holding web meetings where people can call in and login on line to learn more about the TAC.  To download a copy of the presentation, please click here.

For more information on TAC meeting dates, please click here.  For information on the West Coast, Mountain, Great Lakes/South Central or East Coast TAC agendas, please contact Projects.

If you are interested in getting involved in one of our Technical Advisory Committees, please contact the TAC chairs or Projects

2) Liaisons:
The Country Liaison is an volunteer who oversees some or all of the various EWB-USA chapter projects in a specific country.  Their responsibility is to provide communication between various chapters working in a specific country and also help to disseminate information to the EWB-USA TAC & Project Staff.  The liaison plays the role of a communicator, but is not responsible technical accuracy or for leading or mentoring the project, just facilitating these solutions.  The liaison is a great way to get involved, become familiar with several projects in a country, and get to know their project members.

We are currently looking for Liaisons.  To become a liaison, please view the Liaison Training seminar, then contact Projects.

3) Application Review Committee:
The Application Review Committee (ARC) is a valuable asset to EWB-USA.  ARC members review new project applications submitted by chapters and communities to determine if they are appropriate for EWB-USA.  If the project is approved and it has a chapter, the chapter is then able to start working on the project as a recognized EWB-USA project.  If the project was submitted by a community, we call it an "open project", and post it on-line so that a chapter can adopt the project.

Some useful downloads to learn more about the ARC include:
ARC Review Guidelines - This form is an overview of the Application Review Committee (ARC) Guidelines. They are to be referenced when reviewing new project applications and filling out the ARC review form #803.
803 - ARC Review Form - The ARC reveiw form is filled out for each project application to provide a summary comments on new projects.

We are currently looking for ARC Members.  To become a ARC Member, please view the Liaison Training seminar, then contact Projects.
