ProjectSt. Therese Clinic Resconstruction Project
Description
The project that EWB-VT has been asked to carry out is to rebuild the outpatient clinic at St. Therese, and as part of that project, to develop a dedicated water system and sanitation system, an independent power source for the clinic, and to do some landscaping to provide a pleasant outdoor waiting area for patients. Because the projected cost of the clinic itself, ($600,000) is so large, and will take likely take several years to raise, we want to investigate ways that our team might have a more immediate impact on the community that would help further our ultimate goals for the project. In particular we want to investigate the need for, and feasibility of digging a well at the clinic site, of building a medical waste incinerator, and of building a smaller dental clinic and administrative building that is planned to go with the main outpatient clinic. We believe that pursuing and completing these smaller sub-projects before the construction of the main clinic will both allow us to have a more immediate impact on the community we are working for, and will further our fundraising efforts for the main clinic, as we will be able to point to an impact that we have already had on the community when fundraising for the remainder of the project.
