Program: Ghana - Central

|
| Country | Ghana |
| Region | Central |
| Chapter | University of Minnesota |
| Project | Amponsah Water & Sanitation |
| Description |
|---|
| Amponsah Akroase is a town of 2,000 in Agona Swedru, Ghana, with one school – the Minnesota Academy –started by Minnesota teachers in 1998, and supported by a growing number of Minnesota individuals and organizations. Today, it numbers 700 children in K-8th grade. Neither the town nor the school has a source of clean water for drinking, nor do they have a sanitation system to properly dispose of human wastes.
The project is to create an environmentally sound and locally sustainable water system to provide clean drinking water for Amponsah and the Minnesota Academy, and an environmentally sound and locally sustainable sanitation system that will serve the needs of the town and school. |
