INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT LEADER TO KEYNOTE ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS-USA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
 
February 17, 2009 (BOULDER, CO) – The founder of a trailblazing organization easing poverty in the developing world will keynote the Engineers Without Borders-USA International Conference March 26-29 in Milwaukee.
 
Acumen Fund founder and CEO Jacqueline Novogratz, recently called "one of the most interesting innovators in aid and development" by The New York Times, will describe Acumen Fund’s entrepreneurial approach to reducing global poverty.  A frequent speaker at international conferences, including the World Economic Forum, the Clinton Global Initiative and TED, Jacqueline is recognized as a global pioneer in the world of philanthropy and international development.  Her message will be delivered to over 1200 attendees at the fifth annual EWB-USA International Conference.
 
Jacqueline is the author of the forthcoming memoir, The Blue Sweater: Bridging the Gap Between Rich and Poor in an Interconnected World, the inspiring story of her quest to find effective new approaches to global poverty, from starting the first microfinance organization in Rwanda to investing in entrepreneurs who are building businesses to deliver health, housing, water, and energy services to the poor.
 
The theme of the EWB-USA upcoming conference is "Transformative Education: Creating Opportunities for Knowledge." The conference invites professionals, students, faculty and community members to learn ways in which they can instill change through their professions. It will be held at the Wyndham Milwaukee Airport Hotel and Convention Center. To register for the conference: www.ewb-usa.org
